Celebrating a Decade of Service

As we approach the joyous holiday season, we at Family Promise of South Sarasota County find ourselves reflecting on a momentous milestone— heading into our 10th year of dedicated service to families in need. This decade has been filled with hope, compassion, and transformative change, and none of it would have been possible without your unwavering support.

A Decade of Making a Difference

Family Promise of South Sarasota County began its journey in 2015, born from a vision shared by a group of passionate community members and local congregations who saw the need to support families experiencing homelessness. What started as a small network of volunteers providing temporary shelter in church buildings has blossomed into a comprehensive service organization, helping families navigate the complexities of homelessness and rebuild their lives.

In those early days, we started with just one program— our Bridge Housing Shelter Program— offering families a safe place to stay. Today, we are proud to say that we’ve expanded our services to include over five programs, each designed to meet the unique needs of families facing homelessness. These programs range from rent assistance, transitional housing of families facing homelessness. These programs range from rent assistance, transitional housing to financial literacy, case management, and our Bridge Housing Program, which helps families move from crisis to stability. Our growth has allowed us to serve more families and offer a holistic approach to ending the cycle of homelessness.

Building a Brighter Future Together

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we continue to expand our impact. this year, we are excited to share three significant projects that will shape the future for families facing homelessness in our area:

  • Bridge Housing: Our New Shelter Program Facility
    We are thrilled to announce the renovation of a new shelter program facility in South Venice. This space will provide families with a safe and supportive environment as they transition toward stability. Here, they will find not just shelter, but the resources and guidance they need to rebuild their lives.

  • Parkside Villages: A New Home for Many
    We have purchased two acres at Parkside Villages, where we plan to build over 30 apartments. This project represents a vital step in creating affordable housing options for families who deserve a place to call home. Imagine the joy of families walking into their new front doors, knowing they have a community ready to embrace them.

  • Pathways Home: Completing the Parkside Cottages
    Our commitment to the Parkside Cottages is steadfast as we work to complete our loan. These cottages were served as transitional housing, allowing families to regain their footing while they work toward a brighter future.
